About

Kruger National Park

Kruger National Park is Africa's most famous national park and South Africa's premier safari destination. At nearly 19,000 square kilometres it supports some of Africa's highest densities of the Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. With outstanding road networks, excellent self-drive facilities, and a wide range of accommodation from bushveld camps to luxury lodges in the adjacent private reserves, Kruger offers the most accessible and well-organised safari experience on the continent.

Our Insider Tips

Self-drive is genuinely world-class. Kruger's road network and camp infrastructure make self-drive safaris excellent value. Hire a car in Johannesburg or Nelspruit and drive yourself.

Book private reserve lodges for leopard. Sabi Sand lodges like MalaMala, Londolozi, and Singita Boulders offer the best leopard viewing in Africa.

Go north for fewer vehicles and wild dogs. The far north around Pafuri and Punda Maria is far less visited than the south — and has outstanding birding, walking safaris, and regular wild dog sightings.
