Seven days focused on Tanzania's two greatest icons — the Serengeti plains and the Ngorongoro Crater — plus a Maasai cul
7 days across extraordinary landscapes. Each morning a new horizon; each evening a campfire and silence.
Your safari begins at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where your guide will meet you on arrival and transfer you comfortably to Forest Hill Hotel in Arusha. Nestled at the foot of Mount Meru, the hotel offers a calm and elegant welcome to Tanzania — gardens, a pool, and the distant outline of a volcanic peak on the horizon. The afternoon is yours to settle in and decompress after your journey. A delicious dinner awaits in the evening, and an early start tomorrow means an early night is well rewarded. Overnight at Forest Hill Hotel, Arusha.
After an early breakfast, your guide sets course for the Serengeti via the spectacular Ngorongoro Conservation Area — a highland drive through montane forest and open moorland, with the vast crater rim visible to the south. As the highland descends into the endless plains, the Serengeti reveals itself in full. This is one of the most powerful moments in East African travel: the horizon disappears into golden grass, and wildlife is everywhere. An afternoon game drive through the Seronera valley — the wildlife-richest zone in the entire park — brings lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, giraffe, and zebra into view before you reach Serengeti Pure Tented Camp for sundowners and dinner beneath the stars. Overnight at Serengeti Pure Tented Camp.
A full day devoted entirely to the Serengeti — the world's most celebrated safari destination. Rise before dawn for the most productive hours: the light is extraordinary, predators are still active from the night, and the bush is at its quietest and most alive. Morning game drive, return to camp for a mid-day rest, then out again in the late afternoon as the temperature drops and the big cats stir. This is two drives in one day — morning and evening — which gives you the best chance across all species and behaviours. The Serengeti sky after dark is one of the most spectacular on earth. Ask your guide to name the constellations. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Pure Tented Camp.
Depart the Serengeti and drive east to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The ascent to the crater rim — through highland forest as the altitude rises — is itself a dramatic transition. At the top, the world falls away: a 600-metre descent into the world's largest intact volcanic caldera, 260 km² of enclosed savannah, soda lake, and forest that supports one of the greatest concentrations of wildlife on earth. Today is your best opportunity to see all of the Big Five in a single day. Lion prides lounge in the open grass; the endangered black rhino still roams the crater floor; elephant, Cape buffalo, hippo, and flamingo share the same landscape in extraordinary proximity. A full day of game drive with a packed lunch. In the late afternoon, ascend to the cool highlands and check in to Farm of Dreams Lodge for dinner and your first night at altitude. Overnight at Farm of Dreams Lodge, Ngorongoro.
After breakfast, transfer north-east to Makuyuni village for a full immersion at Maasai Eco Boma — an authentic working Maasai community, not a curated performance. You are welcomed into daily life: walk with the herders, try your hand at traditional fire-making, learn beadwork techniques from the women, and listen to storytelling around an evening fire. Your guide facilitates genuine conversation and exchange, sharing the Maasai philosophy of living alongside wildlife — a relationship with the land that stretches back centuries and which has, in many ways, protected the ecosystems that make this safari possible. Overnight at Maasai Eco Boma, Makuyuni — in traditional-style accommodation under one of Tanzania's most unobstructed night skies.
Transfer back toward Arusha for your final safari night at Aya Sophia Wildlife Villa — a secluded, privately-run retreat on the outskirts of the city with direct views over wildlife-facing land. After six days of extraordinary game viewing, this is a place to pause: sit on the terrace watching animals approach a natural watering hole, enjoy a long and unhurried lunch, and take stock of everything the past week has offered. It is one of the finest ways to close a Tanzanian safari — exclusive, quiet, and still entirely in the bush. Dinner and overnight at Aya Sophia Wildlife Villa, Arusha.
A final breakfast at the villa before your guide transfers you to Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight. Many guests choose to extend their time in Tanzania with a few days in Zanzibar — the island's white coral beaches, spice plantations, and Stone Town's UNESCO-listed old quarter make for a perfect contrast to the bush. Ask us about a Zanzibar extension when you enquire. Safe travels — asante sana for choosing to experience Tanzania with us.
